Next Sweater

I've SO nearly finished Ziggy. Now I've done all the knitting and cast off. I just need to weave in any left over ends (and photograph it for ravelry). Of course, now I’m thinking about my next sweater. I popped into iKnit to see if I could find any suitable yarn, but nothing leaped out at me. I’m intending to go up to Loop on Saturday - I like the yarn selection & the colours they have there. I’m thinking lovely soft Alpaca in black or turquoise.

Meanwhile I’ve been working on a pair of socks which are going very slowly. I’ve been knitting them on the tube and I only get about 6 rows done in 30minutes. Also on my finished sock I have some horrid colour pooling on the sole. I’m going to rip it out and re-knit to avoid it. I’m surprised so see this because it’s Koigu.

My next socks are going to be a pattern I’m inventing called Mary Queen of Socks. I’m basing these socks on a written description of a pair worn by Mary Queen of Scots to her execution in ‘A History of Hand knitting by Richard Rutt’. The description is very vague which is lucky as I am not concerned with historical correctness! I’m going to try to use the same stich pattern for the socks and for my new sweater – so the socks will be a test run to see how it looks. This is all yet to be decided, although I have a few ideas.

Other than that I started trying to knit the Childs Plaid Neck Jumper from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, but I couldn’t get gauge with the yarn substitution I was trying to use. I think the sweater would have actually been too big for me let alone a baby.
