Roof Knitting

I've taught my work colleague how to knit a sock. She’s done really well and has picked up the short row technique for doing toes and heels although she had never even purled before. Unfortunately she’s leaving the job here (not sock related!) but it’s been lovely sitting knitting in the roof garden in the sun when we should have been working… Also I’ve finished my first ever pair of socks - again proving that they are greener than grass! They are still attached to the umbilical cord (so to speak) as I might re-knit the rib on smaller needles - but first I'll have to buy 8 dpn 2mm... Also I couldn't help but include my new shoes that I love but hurt me incredibly right now!
I have enough wool left for 2 more socks. Here is a tip - if you want to know how long to make your toe up sock to either use up exactly half or a quarter of a ball simply weigh the ball as you knit... If you have a 100g ball originally stop knitting when you get to 50 g. This also works for jumpers, sleeves, basically anything where the amount of yarn you have left suddenly becomes of great significance! For example, you can calculate how much one row (or round) weighs by weighing the ball before and after knitting 10 rows then calculate how many rows you have left in the ball.
