London Wool Shops

I've just come back from the Stash shop in Putney - this is the first time I've been there. I was very keen to go because they stock all those yarns you hear about on the web & I was very curious to see them 'in the flesh'.

Today it is a beautiful hot day however no-one had warned me and I was still more dressed for spring than for summer. A black long sleeved jumper and tights really was not suitable, however I arrived without fainting (surprisingly the train air-con was working!).

Stash , as you'd imagine, was a beautiful shop. The yarns were gorgeous BUT so expensive, I loved Art Yarns but they were about £15 a skein. I've got a good job and no kids, but even I couldn't afford those prices. BUT they were so-oooo lovely. Of course I couldn't leave without getting some yarn so I got South West Trading Company Bamboo in Trq Green for £8.99 per ball (I got 2 balls for some reason - I'm not sure there is anything I can actually do with this!).

I think it's a shame there isn't more (what I'd call) indie UK labels in stock in the London wool shops. We have so many sheep.

OK. Now I'm going to sit outside and continue knitting my cardigan - so nearly finished!
